Deconstructing Cubes

Deconstructing Cubes was my first quilt.  Really.  I entered it in the 2010 Asheville Quilt Show, where it won Best First Quilt and Viewers’ Choice.  It also won third place in the Western North Carolina Fair (2010), Best Use of Color in the Western North Carolina Quilters’ Guild Show, and Second Viewers’ Choice in the Oklahoma City Winter Quiltfest.  It was selected to hang in display for two months at the UNC Asheville’s Reuter Center, and for three months at the Blue Ridge Parkway Folk Art Center (pictured below).  It is a double sided quilt, with the various “deconstructed” cubes visible in color on the front and in mostly black and white on the back (second photo below).
